On This page you will find a pictorial "explanation" of why I have adopted Alaska as my home, and chose to make it the place to have my children grow up in . Alaska is known as "The Last Frontier" state and I fell in love with it, the minute I flew into Anchorage in June, 1963. I never expected to stay, but I soon developed an appreciation for the vast untamed wilderness - and a great deal of respect - with it's serenity, slow pace of life, and clean, clear air and water.

Was it my Scottish Highlander roots (only suspected) embedded deep in my genes that drew me to a land which has uncanny similarities to some parts of Scotland - or the thrill of that which was new, different and exciting? Perhaps it was a bit of both. I will always treasure my North Carolina home and my ties to my family and roots. I was fortunate to have grown up there and I value my visits to "America", where most of my family still lives. (Alaskans call the rest of the United States, the "Lower 48" or "America"). North Carolina will always be my treasure. Alaska will always be my passion. I hope you enjoy your visit.
