Veterans' Wall of Honor

Images will now download TWICE as fast!

The Veterans' Wall of Honor was designed and erected by dedicated veterans of the Wasilla, Alaska area, more specifically the "Area Wide Community Services Council, Corp", because they felt that a veteran should not have to expire before their service is recognized and held up for the world to see.

Below are some pictures of the fruits of their dedicated labor. You can click on any image for a larger rendition of that image and a caption explaining what you are looking at.

The Veterans' Wall of Honor is located at the site of the Veterans Monument and Bicentennial Park, located at mile 35.5 of the Parks Highway, 1/2 mile west after turning on the Parks Highway from the Glenn Highway. It has become the site of the majority of the military and patriotic ceremonies (i.e. Veterans Day, Memorial Day, POW/MIA Recognition, etc..) for those living in the Matanuska-Susitna (MATSU) valley, and from other parts of the state, such as Anchorage.

All American veterans, living or deceased, and who either received an honorable discharge or are presently serving in the United States military, are eligible to have their names added to the Wall of Honor. A link to the application form can be found near the bottom of this page.

The $50 registration fee which is paid when the application is submitted is used to defray the cost of the marble panels and the engraving of the applicant's information on the panel. Incomplete panels are brought out for display during special occasions (i.e. Veterans' Day, Memorial Day, etc...), but are not permanently erected until the entire panel is filled.

Click here to bring up the application form, then print it, fill it in, and sent it with $50 to the address on the form
